October is here, and the autumn season is in full swing. As we approach the Halloween season, there's nothing better than kicking back and checking out that new movie your coworkers keep talking about, checking out the latest episodes of your favourite series, or seeing what scary new horror movies are available! Prime Video is the place to be for all of the above, and next month brings a slew of great new content to dig into. I can't wait!

As you may know, Prime Video is part of the Optik TV experience, and the Prime Video app is also on the Optik TV 4K media box as well. It's never been easier to sign up! There's always great new original content available, not to mention a ton of classic movies and shows to check out! Let's dive in!

Coming to Prime Video in October

  • October 6 - Fast X
    • The latest installment in the Fast and The Furious series finds Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto and his family facing the most lethal opponent they've ever confronted.
  • October 6 - Totally Killer
    • The latest Blumhouse comedy-horror finds a young woman traveling back to 1987 to help her (younger) mother stop a serial killer.
  • October 20 - Upload (Season 3)
    • The latest season in the sci-fi comedy series about a man coming to terms with his digital afterlife.

Totally Killer

The perfect Halloween movie! I'm a massive horror movie fan, and there aren't many studios around these days that are churning out the hits like Blumhouse. From The Purge and Insidious series, to Jordan Peele's Get Out and Us, to the final trilogy in the all-time best horror series ever, Halloween...nobody does it better. The latest soon-to-be cult classic is Totally Killer and it's arriving just in time for the spookiest time of year!

Teenaged Jamie (Riverdale's Kiernan Shipka) lives with her mother Pam (Modern Family's Julie Bowen), a woman forever haunted by surviving a serial killer spree in 1987 that claimed the lives of her best friends. When Jamie is suddenly thrust back in time to that very year, she must team up with the younger version of her mother to prevent the killings from ever happening, all while trying to get back to the present day. Definitely Back To The Future meets Halloween vibes here, and I'm all for it.

Nothing beats a comedic slasher movie to get you in the Halloween mood and if the whole movie is as awesome as the official trailer (NSFW) then we're in for a treat. Definitely not one for the kids, so once they're tucked in at night, grab your favourite snack and kick back. Totally Killer drops on October 6, and you know where I'll be!

The Continental

I'm searching for something bad to say about The Continental and so far all I can think of is that it's only a three episode miniseries! I want more! The first two episodes have already aired and so far it's been incredible. I'm a huge fan of the John Wick series so I'm biased, sure...but you do owe it to yourself if you're a fan of over the top action and killer 1970's vibes. This prequel series takes place in the same universe as the film series, with a younger Winston Scott as he takes over the fabled hotel. The Continental as we know is the safe haven for the world's assassins, wherein no 'business' may take place. As you'll see though, that doesn't really pan out.

So far I've loved seeing the younger versions of Winston and Charon and how they rise to their positions of power within the underbelly of New York in the 70's. If you love the John Wick movies or just want to see a great action miniseries to help get you caught up, you're in for a treat. Even better, each episode is feature length! At roughly 90 minutes per episode, there's plenty of action to go around. The third and final is coming soon on October 6, so don't miss it!
