I had a paid off Vivint system. I agreed because TELUS represented the replacement as an “upgrade” and a “1 to 1 replacement.” That is why I allowed my existing equipment to be removed. After install, I learned that not only am I tied to a 3 year contract, but the recording setup was not equivalent. My Vivint system had continuous recording through equipment I already owned. TELUS told me I would need microSD cards in each camera to approximate that function. This is a downgrade sold as an upgrade. There are more examples of how this system doesn't meet the mark. I escalated. TELUS said they would review the call recordings. They also pointed to the 30 day cancellation window, while telling me I would need to remove the TELUS equipment myself and return it by Canada Post. So TELUS gets weeks to review its own sales calls, but the customer’s cancellation clock keeps running. My questions for TELUS: Is this actually a functional 1 to 1 replacement for legacy Vivint systems with continuous recording? Were customers clearly told before installation that continuous recording may now require separate microSD cards per camera? What exactly happens to paid off Vivint equipment after the swap? If TELUS misrepresented the replacement, why is the customer responsible for removal and return risk? Will TELUS pause or preserve the cancellation window while it reviews the call recordings? Will TELUS send a technician to remove the equipment if the complaint is non equivalent replacement? This is about conscenting through misrepresentation. “Upgrade” and “1 to 1 replacement” are material claims. Former Vivint customers should demand clear answers before agreeing. My Vivint equipment was superior, and had I known what I know now, I would've happily walked away without home monitoring support.123Views0likes1CommentTELUS inherited my Vivint equipment — now wants me to pay to replace it
TELUS inherited my Vivint equipment — now wants me to pay to replace it Bought out my Vivint equipment in full in 2021. Own it outright. 37 sensors, doorbell camera, smart lock — the works. Month-to-month monitoring at $33.04/month ever since. TELUS's "sunset" offer: $1,000 credit toward a ~$2,000 replacement system, plus my monthly fee jumps to ~$50. So I eat $1,000 in hardware costs and a 51% rate increase — for a platform decision that's entirely TELUS's. I don't need anything new and my system works just fine. My ask is simple: if Telus wants to replace the equipment, they can do so - at their own cost. They are obligated to maintain the agreement they acquired when they took over Vivint. Anyone else dealing with this? CCTS and Alberta Consumer complaints are drafted and ready to go — hoping to resolve it here first.151Views0likes2CommentsSwitched from Vivint - False Alarms now due to Telus system
Was recently migrated over to Telus from Vivint and am wondering if anyone else is having issues with their panel and sensors going offline, as well as any "false alarms" being triggered in the middle of the night? We have 2 panels and 1 consistently is offline and rebooting. Our plug in sensor does the same thing. It is continually offline and needs to be taken out and plugged back in. Our alarm went off at 11:30 the other night indicating the basement window was open. When I got down to the basement, the window was not opened. Phoned into the security line, who had the wrong address and last name registered for the phone number I was calling from. (Obviously the data migration from Vivint to Telus wasn't 100% accurate.) They werent able to tell me why the alarm falsely triggered and was told that I had to phone tech support the next morning. Talked to Tech support and they said that the window sensor disconnected from the panel as my panel needed to be updated with the latest firmware so thats what triggered the alarm. They couldn't tell me why none of the other 8 sensors didn't disconnect or why the firmware didn't automatically update. With Vivint these updates were automatic. Tech support indicated this is a larger problem and that they are working on updating the firmware on panels as quick as they can but have no timeline when this will be completed. So, in the meantime there could be potentially false alarms that occur again! I was a customer with Vivint for 6 years and never experienced a false alarm in the middle of the night or sensors excessively being offline and disconnected. Very very dissappointed with this move over to Telus.3.1KViews0likes6CommentsWhy am I forced to upgrade my Vivint system?
Hi, Yesterday I had a message showing up on my Vivint's display "Urgent: Account upgrade required, call #phone number #". After calling Telus, I was informed that I needed to upgrade the system and account, which would cost me money... both the system, and a new account.. I've acquired my current system in 2022 with Vivint prior to the acquisition, a total of 25 devices (4k dollars in equipment) and a 60mo contract. During the acquisition, the letter stated that no changes would happen to my plan... it was just the billing transitioning from Vivint to Telus First month under Telus and it increased by 4 dollars... ok, no notice nor anything... but 4 dollars wouldn't change anything... and now I am asked to upgrade my system... Why am I forced to upgrade my account and spend extra on top of my 2yo devices and go with a more expensive plan? if I was to quit, I would be forced to pay the contractual fees... and now you want to force me to spend even more money? no matter if I quit or I stay, I need to pay cash regardless... either a penalty, or a forced upgrade (upsell). A few calls with customer support already and no resolution... keep sending me to the "custom security for residential" cuz "residential" claims I have too many sensors (noted, cameras are accounted as sensors) and no resolution. What a ripoffSolved8KViews2likes13CommentsVivint Home Security
Telus recently bought Vivint/ADT I am currently with Vivint and contract nearing end Anyone made the switch and able to use existing equipment? I've paid alot of money for several pieces of equipment Smoke/fire alarm, c02 detector, 5 door sensors, doorbell camera, 2 motion sensors, smart thermostat. Vivint installed an adapter to allow me to use my equipment with their system. Telus plans come with signicantly less amount of equipment and I'm not looking to purchase more items to keep the same amount of service. Any insight?Solved8KViews0likes2Comments
