Version Fr408KViews6likes0CommentsDo you need WiFi for all SmartHome devices to work?
If I've got the control panel, and several sensors (door, motion, CO2, smoke, flood, glass), do I need WiFi to make them work? I understand I would likely need WiFi to be able to control/monitor the systems from my phone, but what if I am getting the security system set up before the WiFi. Will someone (Telus?) be alerted in some way if any of the items are triggered? Can I still arm the home from the control panel itself? Thanks!Solved8.7KViews0likes2CommentsWhy am I forced to upgrade my Vivint system?
Hi, Yesterday I had a message showing up on my Vivint's display "Urgent: Account upgrade required, call #phone number #". After calling Telus, I was informed that I needed to upgrade the system and account, which would cost me money... both the system, and a new account.. I've acquired my current system in 2022 with Vivint prior to the acquisition, a total of 25 devices (4k dollars in equipment) and a 60mo contract. During the acquisition, the letter stated that no changes would happen to my plan... it was just the billing transitioning from Vivint to Telus First month under Telus and it increased by 4 dollars... ok, no notice nor anything... but 4 dollars wouldn't change anything... and now I am asked to upgrade my system... Why am I forced to upgrade my account and spend extra on top of my 2yo devices and go with a more expensive plan? if I was to quit, I would be forced to pay the contractual fees... and now you want to force me to spend even more money? no matter if I quit or I stay, I need to pay cash regardless... either a penalty, or a forced upgrade (upsell). A few calls with customer support already and no resolution... keep sending me to the "custom security for residential" cuz "residential" claims I have too many sensors (noted, cameras are accounted as sensors) and no resolution. With the holidays behind us, the start to a new year is also a time to start being increasingly aware of Cyber Safety. This is especially true when it comes to our Internet of Things (IoT) devices and IoT device security.5.5KViews1like0CommentsDoorbell Camera only records for 30 seconds?
Hey there! Last summer we had an Alarm.com ADC VDB750 Wired Video Doorbell Camera installed by Telus Security. The issue I am having is that it only records for 30 second increments and then won’t record again for 30 seconds. Is there a way to get it to record 24 hours a day without breaks? Our camera constantly misses recording key moments due to these 30 second breaks between recordings and it makes the camera completely useless.1.1KViews0likes3CommentsTelus Mobility Gateway IP Is From England
Hello, I am wondering why my cellular device (iPhone 15 with iOS 18.1.1) is showing me my cellular gateway IP address is located in England? I have no VPN running, and am not connected to WiFi, either. Solely running on Telus Mobility data. I’ve included a screen shot below for clarification. I am concerned about the safety and reliability of my network — and this isn’t really making me feel at ease. Can anyone shine light on this? A quick IP search reveals this IP has nothing to do with Telus.1KViews0likes2CommentsVery unprofessional Door-to-door Marketing and customer support
I'd like to report an incident involving unprofessional behaviour from a Telus employee and customer care representative. The employee visited my home after 8:30 PM, and despite my polite decline of the services, they continued to ask personal questions. They also made inappropriate comments about my security camera. When I called customer care to express my concern, the representative seemed dismissive and accused me of being a repeat caller, which was untrue. They also hung up on me. I appreciate Telus's efforts, but I believe there's a need for improvement in respecting customers' personal space and time, as well as in the customer care department's approach to addressing concerns. I'd like someone from Telus to investigate and resolve this issue.299Views0likes4CommentsTELUS Door to Door Salespeople Question
Hi, we had two salespeople - looking like they were in their early 20's, one male and one female - arrive at my door today (20th of October). I forgot to verify their IDs but they were selling a bundled Telus ADT phone/internet package that included home security. There have been some scams in the neighborhood and I wanted to make sure they were legitimate. Did you have two agents doing door-to-door sales today in the afternoon, in the streets surrounding Southworth Street in Welland, Ontario?99Views0likes1Comment
