I recently had a sales person come to my door. He promised me a promotional offer of $35 per mobile line and around $100 for GB Internet. The total he told me would be appropriately $270 which included a security service. My oldest son lives near the border so he suggested getting US talk/text/data for an additional $5. I mentioned repeatedly I didn't care to have the security service but he said it was part of the deal. He did mention that the first bill will be higher as all promotional discounts kick in on the first full billing period. My bill for the first month of mobility is roughly $350, internet a little less than $100 and security, which I never wanted is $70. When I contacted him about the issue he changed the story saying that his price was 4 lines of mobility and that the 5th line was extra as it wasn't activated at the same time, my son wasn't home from school yet. I do have a piece of paper on which he wrote 5 lines and internet $270. He has put me in contact with his supervisor, she returned 1 text and nothing since.31Views0likes2CommentsMobility offer - scam or great deal?
Received a call from 888-519-0122 - said they were calling from Telus. Being polite, and having time, I was curious about the offer - asked about some kind of streaming / mobile plan bundle. Eventually landed on talking about $35 / month / line deal for mobile - unlimited talk / text CAN + US, 5G LTE, etc. I asked to be emailed the details - he said he couldn't do that (something about competitors getting the info?). Seemed a bit off. So I asked for a call back b/c I was busy. When he called back, I asked for additional verification that he was from Telus. He read account details (billing details, etc.). These were accurate. He then sent an automated "how to sign up for an e-sim" email that was also legit. When I call back the number, it goes to a Telus automated menu. However, when googling the number, I came across these two conflicting posts with Telus: Post 1: It IS a legitimate number (https://forum.telus.com/discussions/mobile_devices/is-this-a-scam/171441) Post 2: It is NOT a legitimate number (https://forum.telus.com/discussions/mobile_devices/verify-telus-number/174523) Anyway - I read somewhere that you can ask the rep to post a comment on your Telus account that you can then login to see. He said he didn't know how. So I said that if he can figure that out, I'm interested. If not, sorry. So - am I too paranoid or appropriately cautious?35Views0likes0CommentsTelus Call - 866-369-9826
I got a call from "Telus" from this number and they said they could offer me a $40 phone plan. We didn't get to any talk about putting my PIN in or anything like that. I've heard people get scammed this way, and I am usually good as sussing out these ones. This one however has been calling for a week straight. Anyone know about this one? 866-369-9826881Views0likes2CommentsPlan Discrepancy
I get calls from Telus almost daily, and one day I bite. I'm looking for new mobility services for myself and my son in Uni and the offer was "unlimited high speed data, call and texts for $35/mos, plus the $70 activation fee, so for the first 7 mos the bill would be credited $10 making it $25/mos". Obviously a no brainer. Then I get my bill, even before my SIM cards - so prior to beginning service with Telus - for $252 for both phones. I read the bill and find that it's $55/mos plus the activation fee and it's a 24mos deal then the bill goes up $15. So I call Telus, and I'm told that this is a scam offer that does not exist and he will "report" the person who was apparrently "just trying to make a quota". So this is a thing now? The same thing happened when I signe up for internet, agreed upon amount was much less than they initially billed until I called, and they billed me before they could get me a functioning router which left me working from home without internet for over a month. What has happened to Telus? They used to be the best!3KViews0likes8Comments
