I just spent an hour trying to determine whether a deal I received from a Telus number was a scam or not. The existing threads on here are unclear, inconclusive or contradictory. The info on here led me to believe it was a scam, but then after spending time calling Telus and having them check, confirmed it was in fact a legitimate call. Can we have a Telus rep confirm the info on this forum. Is “+1” at the front of the number a reliable indicator of whether it’s a legit call or not? What else can we do to protect ourselves in the case someone is spoofing the number?6KViews0likes2CommentsFraudulent Calls/Emails
I received a call yesterday and today from 1-866-558-2245 and 1-866-558-2277. Both were offering me an upgrade on my phone and plan, paying just 55$/ month for a brand-new iPhone 15 or Samsung Galaxy S23 and Tariff Plan for each line + Unlimited Text Messages (All network across the Canada/USA) + Unlimited Calls (All network across the Canada/USA) + 30GB 5G (Internet Data) + 1000 International Calling Minutes. I thought it was weird that they were calling for a promotion but didn’t have any of my information on file, including my email, or see that I just got a new phone/ plan less than a year ago. I asked them to send an email and the email came from promotion@telusupgrade .com and was full of grammar and spelling mistakes. Luckily I have just enough tech literacy to recognize this to be a scam, but it did take a bit of sleuthing to realize. Hopefully others can do some searching and find relevant posts to see this is a scam before falling for something that feels just too good to be true.4.2KViews0likes2CommentsTelus sent me to collection agency without contacting me
I received a mail from General Credit Services Inc stated that they have been contracted as the authorized collection agency because I own $1919.58 to TELUS CORPORATION PAYROLL I do recognize that the account number shown on the mail is indeed the T-ID I was assigned but I have left Telus more than 2 years ago, and not a single word from Telus, all of sudden I was sent to collection for something I never heard of? I tried to contact Telus to find out what’s going on, but giving that all the number I can find is for customer service and I clearly don’t have any active account so nobody can tell me anything. The nice ladies I had been talking to both assumed this is a scam letter. But given that the T-ID was actually shown on the letter I’m hoping someone from Telus could help me with this please. At least tell me the reason for this not so small amount please. 😭 Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. Signed up for a mobility service in Dec via Telus sales rep over the phone. Received an email with a service agreement with an incorrect plan. Rep said don't worry and they'd call back in few days to make sure everything is corrected. This is when everything has gone wrong. Rep never called back on the day promised. My activated account had an extended warranty service activated for extra $15/month without my approval. Promised credits weren't applied. My bill was more than double the amount from what was said during the sign up. Called Telus to cancel. Loyalty Rep asked for a chance to fix the issue. He said he cancelled the extended warranty and immediately applied the credits he see in the notes the sales rep had left under my account. For one particular credit, he said they would need to investigate by listening to the recording of my call with the initial sales rep. He gave assurance to give a callback by a certain day and gave his name with his employee badge number. He never called back. Called Telus to cancel again. A different loyalty rep said he still sees the $15/month extended warranty active on my account. He does not see anything about the investigation mentioned by the previous rep. When asked for a shipping label for the device return, the rep said since the porting department is closed at the time of the call, he would need to give a callback next day. He then said it will take 2-3 more business days for the shipping label to arrive to my email address. In summary, the sales rep activated services without customer's approval and gave misleading information on promo/credits to get the sign up. Other reps gave conflicting information and never gave callbacks as promised. I'm left with a huge bill with none of the promised credits applied. Is giving lies and scamming customers for profits Telus' new business strategy?1KViews0likes1CommentTELEKOM LAW PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION
I received an email from Telekon Law. It states that I owe 510.17 before or on the 26th. I am not aware of any debts I have with Telus, and my phone bill is fully paid. I would like some help. Is this legit? I don't have the money to pay for it either, I already all my bills for this month and bought groceries, I literally have no money to pay for this. And if I don't, I am being brought to court apparently. Any help/information, would be greatly appreciated.Solved346Views0likes1CommentSolving an escalation
I spent 2.5 hours with Telus yesterday speaking to 3 different employees & waiting. Telus is not honoring the verbal offer that I was given by the first agent - they are redacting their statement and breaking the verbal contract that I entered with them when I agreed to proceed with the offer. I escalated the issue and requested a supervisors intervention, he agreed to look into the issue and call me back the following day at a time conducive to my work schedule. He called me back with no answer other than redacting the offer, I also requested a call back to cancel TV services as I already waited on hold to do it the day before and they were unable. I was told I would get a call this evening from a cancellation rep and I would hear back from him. No one contacted me. My experience with customer service has been horrendous. If this does not get rectified I intend on issuing a formal complaint.300Views0likes5CommentsFraudulent Charge
I recieved a letter in the mail for an unknown closed account for $776 due immediately. I thought it was a scam due to spelling errors but I thought I better follow up with Telus. It turns out it is a real bill but mobility couldn't tell me what it was and transfered me to Internet services. They couldn't tell me what it was so they transferred me again. The next person said it was for an installation under a corporation but couldn't tell me much more. I told them that I don't have a corporation and that I never authorized anything. This was about 1.25 hours into this and they asked me where I lived and I told them so they transferred me again. I was on hold for 2 hours and finally gave up due to an appointment I had to go to. I now have to phone again on money because the letter said they are going to send a collection agency after me and it could affect my credit rating. I don't have the time to sit on the phone for 3 hours at a time while they transfer around the county because customer service doesn't know what this charge is about. What would my next step be to get this resolved? I have until August 27th apparently to get this taken care of.221Views0likes2CommentsBilling Issues
We know Telus's customer getting worse on the contrary of the increase of the internet and home security service charge. Telus increased more than $6 on the internet service charge and the Home security service although we are not using the Home security service at all. Telus removed the 6 month $5 discount on the internet bundle. Last time the Telus teller asked me to call again to get the temporary prmotional discount after 6 month. I talked a tell, but she was saying she can't give the discount. Also the Home security contact was 36 month, but Telus changed the contract to 24 month and increased the charge upto $3 more without my agreement. I am really moving to Rogers at the end of this contract. So I started to change my email account to Google. My request ;1. additional 6 month $5 discount on the internet service 2. Restore my Home security contract to the original contract. Also the customer service connectivity is so bad.200Views0likes3CommentsBilling Issues
I ended my Telus services and account last June. But I received an email from a debt collections agency that I owe an outstanding charge on my account. I never received a bill from Telus with the amount the debt collection agency stated, and I payed the last bill I had from Telus in full before the account was canceled. If there was an actual charge left outstanding on my account why was I not notified? and if not, why did I get sent to a debt collections agency if I did not have an outstanding charge? I am very disappointed in the service quality of Telus, I shouldn't have my canceled account information sent to a collections agency without my notice of a bill.199Views1like6CommentsWhy did Telus send my outstanding balance to collections before statement due date?
They sent my outstanding balance to collections, effectively screwing my credit, less than one week after I suspended my services. The due date on my final bill, which was never actually sent to me by email OR snail mail, is September 24th. The current billing cycle is for a month that I didn't have any services through them. This is absurd.199Views0likes1Comment
