Telus media box - dead?

I'm wondering if there's any way to perform a hardware reset on my Telus media box. Something went wrong with it last week - it powers on fine, I can see Android OS loading, PikTV silver logo shows up and right after that it goes into black screen. No menu, not settings, no nothing. Doesn't react to any remote button presses (the remote has charged batteries in it). I know Android OS is booted - it shows a screensaver after enough idle time. Help?

Some electronic devices won't do a factory reset unless you do a more complicated procedure like hold the reest for more than X seconds or hold the reset button down while you plug it in.

There is a reset hole on the back of the device. Just find a paperclip or similar to press the button inside.

Already tried that - it just resets the box and doesn't seem to bring it back to 'factory default' state.

Also tried unplugging it for an extended period of time - same result.

Then contact Telus, and request a fresh one. Electronics don't always live forever.

Thanks! Powering it on with 'reset' button pressed allowed me to go to android boot menu and wipe /cache & /data partitions. It reset the software and booted into setup fine after that. 🙂
