Linking Telus pik TV to Google Home

Telus states that the Pik TV box is "chromecast enabled" but I'm having a hard time finding exactly what that enables me to do.

I was hoping to be able to use my pik tv box as a linked chromecast acount under my google home to be able to turn on my tv with a voice command using my google assistant. Example:"ok google, ask chromecast to turn on tv" I've already enabled CEC on my TV.

My question is: has anyone been able to do this? or is that not possible on the "chromecast enabled" pik tv box and is my only option to buy a chromecast to be able to turn the tv on with google assistant?

Works fine for me. I haven't renamed mine but I just tell google to "OK Google, turn on/off Telus Pik TV" and it does, along with the TV. That's about the limit of it's commands currently. Google hasn't enabled a lot of commands for the Android TV platform yet. For Optik TV there are far more commands available though.

I just tried it today and it worked. All I had to say "ok google turn on tv" and i was surprised when it worked haha. I was overthinking it before with asking chromecast or piktv to command the tv.
