PVR crashing

anicols55
Just Moved In

About once per month my pvr all of a sudden freezes does not matter what is being watched or whether something is being recorded. The picture disappears and all the lights go out on it except for the green one, you can hear it powering down. After about 1 minute the blue light comes back on and the acquiring satellite signal box pops up. After about another minute it comes back on to whatever channel it was on before. If something was being recorded at the time it eventually starts recording again, but you lose about 5 minutes. Why is this happening and whatcan I do to fix it?

From the description, sounds like standby mode. You can change the amount of time your receiver will run unattended before going into Standby mode. To change this setting, please do the following:

1)  With the TV turned on, press the MENU on the upper corner of your remote.
2)  Next press 8 on your remote to go into "Preferences".
3)  From the "Preferences" screen, select 7 to go to "Inactivity Standby".

From this screen, you can use the arrows to increase or decrease the amount of time under "Inactivity Duration". Select "Done" to confirm the changes.

As well, your receiver does download each day which can take it off line too. This time of day can be changed to another time you are not normally watching TV.
1)  With the TV turned on, press the MENU on the upper corner of your remote.
2)  Next press 8 on your remote to go into "Preferences".
3)  From the "Preferences" screen, select 4 to go to "Updates".
