We're thinking of switching to Telus Optik, but my husband is worried he won't be able to record DVDs. Will this be a problem?

He has a Sony DVD recorder and records all sorts of news programs from the TV.

It should work in theory, but there are chances of DRM (Digital Rights Management , also known as Copy Protection) may prevent some recordings (such as , VOD movies that you pay for, or Premium Channels).

Best course of action would be to bring the DVD Recorder to a friend's house that has Optik, and to try it out, but there cannot be any garantees.

Is he archiving these for historical purposes or simply for later viewing? If the latter, then the use of the DVR function of the interface box might be the simplest choice.
