With Mother’s Day fast approaching, now is the perfect time to share the different ways in which the community team is staying connected with our family and friends. Check out our list below for some of the best apps to keep virtually connected with your loved ones. Although Mother’s Day may be a bit different this year, these apps can help you make sure mom feels just as special.

Time to chat!

As a mother myself, I love seeing my kid’s faces instead of simply hearing their voices when I'm not with them in person. Our extended family is using Google Hangouts on Sunday nights to connect since we can’t see one another right now. This weekly video chat allows us to keep up to date on each other’s lives while we stay at home. Here are a few other video calling apps that can keep you connected with your mother or loved ones not in your home:

What’s App is a mobile phone app to connect with your loved ones and the best part is you can place/receive calls, text and or video chat using your cellular data or Wifi connection.

iOS device users...have you been FaceTiming constantly? We have, and it’s perfect for a visit with Mom! FaceTime can be used over Wi-Fi or over cellular data as well and it’s supported on various Apple devices like your Macbook and even your iPad.

Similar to FaceTime & What’s App, Google has launched Duo; a simple, high quality video and audio calling app that can be used on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers to connect with your loved ones.

Join Mom for a good workout.

Have you noticed all the new online workout programs that have popped up? Over the past few weeks we’ve tested some with friends to keep one another accountable and connected with a common goal - to stay happy and healthy. Here are some of our faves:

Peloton not only sells amazing stationary bikes but they also offer fantastic workout programs. Currently, they’re offering new subscribers a free 90 day trial where individuals can try yoga, HIIT, stretching, strength training, and many other classes. If your mom is into fitness, you can log on and take the same workout class simultaneously, with the Peloton app.  That would be the definition of a “healthy” Mother’s Day gift.

Are you someone that enjoys testing new workout studios? If so, ClassPass may be a great option for you. ClassPass streams thousands of live or on-demand workouts from top studios around the world. You can try everything from yoga to strength training or HIIT all in the comfort of your own home. A meditative yoga class with Mom would be a perfect way to start Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day this year is definitely going to be different but it can still be memorable for Mom. Make sure to connect with her no matter where you are, and feel free to check out out page over at www.telus.com/stayconnected for great info on ways to stay in touch with your loved ones!
