Why am I receiving this email the next day?!  I wanted to see the S8 and went to Telus today and was told it was not available for see until the launch date in April...Way to drop the ball Telus!

Why west Edmonton mall and no where else? 

I haven't read much about s8 except a little today. 

So it got rid of home button ? 

I like the home B. I've had 2 shirty cases that both wouldn't let me push the S5 power button very easily at all.

I wouldn't want a much bigger screen. 

Stopping apps and third party cap from taking ur info,data and and slowing down the phones what I think makes more sense.

Make $ by coming out with ideas first, and releasing them , before the competition. Not by giving us tiny fixes and charging $1000 when you know your probably sitting on one or two . Its all about $ and bleeding us

@JasonVillen maybe the moto g plus is more for you. It's 5.5 inches $0 upfront, less monthly spend than any of the high tier phones, android run, better rear camera than the S8 and S8 + and expandable memory ANDDD a home key 🙂 If you were really into the S8 and S8 + specs other than the size and home key you could look at the LG G6 which is less upfront cost and you still get the Android 7.0 nougat software. Has a better rear camera but less powerful selfie camera, expandable memory again, better battery than S8 but not as powerful as S8 +, it's non removable and no home key again 😞 if you click on phones on telus.com the little tick box comes up and you can compare different models.

I pre-ordered my s8 from the telus store. Should I recieve a confirmation email and how do i know when it will be available for pick up?

@Ace123 Telus stores do not support preorder. Pre-order is done online only if you are an existing telus customer or through the sales phone team if you are adding a new line or a new telus customer or again online. Perhaps there was a miscommunication? Maybe they were taking a list of names and numbers to call people when they get the phones? The only guaranteed sale of the phone is online and limited to one phone pre-order per account.

Did anyone pre-order the S8/S8+ and are still waiting to receive the Gear VR?  It's been almost 3 months for me.  Now Telus is telling me it was only for online orders!  Looking for a resolution.

@canucks4life they should all have a live demo! Who didn't have any?! How brutal to not have the newest flagship phone in store for customers to see *facepalm*. Not sure abou the VR headset as I'm not in office until tomorrow. I'll check on it then for you. It's almost always a web exclusive and we face the same issue every time a new android comes out. "Sigh"

@Chris_ Okay so what I have found out for you is that it was a while supplies last type of scenario. It was supposed to be up until April 20 orders or until supplies last. It was for Pre-order of the device only. Which we only offered online. It was an online only offer. It did ship separate from the phone in most cases. 4-8 weeks after the phone. Anyone who did not receive their VR headset would contact our web store who deals directly with Telus online orders only. telusorders@telus.com. Failing that you could contact samsung who would most likely just tell you it was an online only offer as well. It's far past the promotion now so I'm not too sure what could be done but, your best option would be to call in to Telus Client Care because the web store would not do anything if you didn't order from them and samsung won't do anything if you don't meet the promotion guidelines.

I'm not sure if it's relevant to this forum or if you can point me in the right direction...

I bought a galaxy s5 active a few years ago and it's been the best phone I've ever owned. Unfortunately, it's now dying on me and I'm researching to find a similar replacement. I read in another forum on here that there was a galaxy s7 active released, but telus did not choose to take part. I'm not sure on the criteria that goes into selecting which phones to sell, but someone said there is an opportunity to suggest phones that telus should carry.  I'd love to suggest the sale of the rumored galaxy s8 active. 

If this isn't possible, I'm looking for other suggestions for a similar rugged but high performance phone.  I'm so impressed with the s5 active that I would almost consider purchasing another one if the opportunity came up. Is it possible to get my hands on a galaxy s7 or s8 active and how could I go about doing that?  I'm a long term and loyal customer to Telus and would love to maintain my plan through them.

Based on your feedback and comment I've put in a fair bit of research for you. 🙂 There have been Actives for all the S5, S6, S7 and there is rumored to be an S8 which Samsung did mention on their own website but, no official release date. There's also been no official word yet internally as to whether or not Telus will be carrying it so fingers crossed! There's a lot of aspects to look at depending what's more important to you and what your situation is. I did learn that the S7 active came with a lot of mixed reviews however. Some sites said it had a mega battery of 4,000mah. While, other sites said it was limited to the USA because it did not pass the water test. Only the S7 and S7 edge passed the water resistant test. :

It's not even on Samsung's website which tells me it's not their best product. So I would recommend their flagship phones, S7, S8, or their edge versions which have survived things like water tests and hammer tests. But, if you had your heart set on that phone it is on ebay. 

Comparing Androids that Telus does carry compared to your S5 active specs for you:

S7 vs S8. 

Screen Size: the S7  is going to be the same size you have now, 5.1 while the S8 will be a big jump 5.8inches. 

Camera: The camera on both phones will actually be lesser quality. At 12mp on the rear compared so your S5's 16mp. Only the selfie camera is better is 8mp on the S8 and 5mp on the S7 compared to the 2mp on the S5.

Battery: You'll be losing the removable battery feature the S5 has

Chip Processor: Is comparable in models and faster of course. 

Expandable memory: yes

Cost: S7 $270 on a contract, $804 no term, S8 $490 on a contract, $1035 no term

The edge screens are pretty awesome. They're going to be bigger screens again. The screen replacement is extremely expensive if it's damaged for any reason. 

S7 Edge vs S8 +: 

Screen Size: 6.2 on the S8 + and 5.5 on the S7 edge

Camera: 12mp rear for both, 8mp for S8 + and 5mp for S7 edge. 

Expandable memory: Yes

Removable battery: No but, it is significantly more beefed up than the S5, S7, and S8

Cost, S7 edge $400 on a contract or $904, S8 + $560 on a contract or $1115

LG G5 is a good phone to consider

Screen Size: 5.3

Camera: meets the S5 at 16mp rear and front is better at 8mp

Chip Processor: Comparable

Battery: The same and removable still

expandable memory: Yes
