Why can't I receive MMS, when other data-related services work?

Device - unlocked BLU smartphone, with Windows 8.1 (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msca/en_CA/pdp/productID.306014600).  Should be very similar to the Lumia, which is sold by Telus.

Telus plan - prepaid, Data + Messaging 20

Test plan:

- Turn off Wifi

- Ensure Internet and MMS APN are set up for Telus (although Telus' instructions seem more tailored to Android)

- Internet connection works

- outbound SMS works

- inbound SMS works

- outbound MMS works

- inbound MMS:  messages received, but they are just a link to "download media content"

  - when the link is touched, it appears to be downloading, but it stops after a few seconds with no results

Any idea of how to get these messages?  It appears to be a known issue on Windows phone:

You can cancel this one ... it was nasty to figure out, but seems to work now.  Telus, feel free to add this to your support notes.  I don't know if this is the *only* way to configure this phone, but it's working for me now 🙂

I also installed an app called "Net Check" to scan the network, but I'm not sure if it was part of the fix.

Thanks folks, have a good day.
