What to do if services are not working or quality is poor
Though rare, clients can occasionally experience issues using their device abroad. The first thing we recommend is to restart your device.
On most devices, this can be triggered by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
If issues persist, it may be associated with the roaming partner. For the best roaming experience possible, TELUS often establishes agreements with multiple carriers which enables you to connect to one that works best for you.
Connecting to a different carrier
Steps vary between devices and software versions but look for similar options on your device:
Tap on Settings > Carrier. Turn “Automatic” OFF.
Tap on Settings > Mobile Network > Network Operators > Search Networks.
On both operating systems, a carrier search will automatically initiate and can take up to 30 seconds. A list of available carriers within your area will then be generated. Pick and choose a different carrier until you find one that works best for you.
