I recently made a trip from Calling Lake AB back to Edmonton AB and had no cell service the whole way with the exceptions of driving through the towns of Athabasca and Legal, The reason I CHOOSE Telus is for their coverage
Solved! Go to Solution.
According to the coverage map, if you have a 4G phone, you should have had full coverage in Calling Lake and on your drive.
You may have been in a place where there was no signal prior to going back.
Maybe a basement or any indoor location...if that was the case, you can try turning your phone off then back on.
Sometimes areas are considered dead spots because has thick walls or underground like a basement, so you lose your service. try that. most of the time that does the trick!
It's very common for phones to lose service when travelling, whether it's due to bad spots or it failing to jump between towers I'm not sure. At any rate it's pretty typical for a phone not to jump back on the network after it's fallen off. If you suspect you should have service but you don't, try removing/replacing the battery or even just turning it off and on.
A good and easy troubleshooting step is to remove the battery and then re-insert it. This will reset the connection between the device and the network. When it connects again, it will re-download all it's settings. If you have and iPhone, then you might want to try to reset the network settings, found under Settings, General, Reset.
If still no luck, then it's time to give TELUS a call at 1-866-558-2273 to have the issue reported.
