WiFi Calling

Phoenix

Every time I try to set up my new device for WiFi calling, the Telus mobility page says my number isn't in the system.

I have the LG V30. I will have to set up a Telus My Account and see if that solves it. Thank you

There have been many discussions on wifi calling. Very specific devices are usable for wifi calling. Any iPhone 6 or newer is. For Android, there are far fewer choices though Telus has said they are working to have more devices approved. (LG G6, LG V30, Samsung S8, Samsung S8+, Samsung Note8)

The V30 does work on Telus WiFi Calling.  However, you will have to call customer care, talk to someone high up because they are poorly trained and still say the G6 is the only Android phone that works with WiFi Calling, and then wait about a week for it to get done.  Then you will have to go through the prompts again on your device, enter your phone number, get the code, enter that, and it will work.

Well...  Make sure you have the Oreo update for the H933 firmware.  If you root or cross-flash your V30, you will lose the ability to use WiFi Calling unless you enter in the IMS and many other settings to get it working manually through hidden and engineering menus.  To check your software version, go to Settings, General, About Phone, Software Info, and look at the Software Version.  It should say, H93320e or newer for WiFi Calling to be supported by the firmware.

I have the same issue on my unlocked Note8. It's not recognizing my #. My VoLTE works fine

Yes same here. Gonna call Telus and ask

It happen to me with my Note 8. I don't remember how they fixed it, but it was fixed by someone on level 2. It took a couple of days to fix it.

Okay, so my Note 8 purchased from Samsung USA and flashed wib Telus firmware is NOW finally with WiFi calling. Level 2 can fix your profile issue . You just need to call in and have the issue escalated. Resetting SOCs by level 1 Tech support will not fix the issue if your profile is corrupted, and chances are it is. It needs to be corrected manually and than your phone # will be recognized and will pass the onboarding process. So my VoLTE and Wifi calling work like a charm. Love the SMS feature over wifi. Remember, telus will pick wireless over wifi, force your phone into wifi calling mode, 1) enable airplane mode, and ,2) enable Wifi. voila and enjoy! Don't forget to disable airplane mode after. P.s. Telus will not connect to wifi calling of you have 1 bar of cellular.

The main benefit of Wi-Fi calling is being able to make calls as well as send and receive texts over Wi-Fi when you have little or no cellular coverage. It kicks in for me as soon as I get 1 bar for LTE and stays on until I get full bars with my iPhone 7 Plus. What made you say "Telus will not connect to wifi calling of you have 1 bar of cellular"?

Telus second level support tolde about it. That's why he recommended airplane mode so that the phone stays in wifi calling mode and doesn't switch back and forth between weak cell reception.

Then you'd experience a dropped call if you move out of Wi-Fi connectivity or the internet goes down. I think it's bad advice because any device that supports Wi-Fi calling also supports VoLTE. And with both of those enabled, it allows for seamless handover. It's better to not force Wi-Fi calling by enabling airplane mode unless you're in an area with consistently poor cellular coverage for LTE (but not poor enough to make Wi-Fi calling come on reliably).

Did you ever figure out why this issue happened and how to solve it? I'm with Koodo and am have the exact issue ("The number entered doesn't match our records. Please re-enter your number.") The techs at Koodo can't seem to figure it out, and it's been weeks. I ask because Telus owns Koodo and when I go to set up WiFi calling it forwards me to a Telus website. I figure that means it's pretty similar.
