Hi ... I'm off on vacation and I want my phone service to say I'm not available . I don't want to change my plan or payments. I just want to let who ever might call me that I'm not available at this time message, can something like this be settled up ? Thanks

Your best option is to create a voicemail greeting.

Personally I would not leave a message saying you are on vacation as it may be an invitation for a burglar to visit.

What I do is call forward my home calls to my mobile phone.  Depending on where you are going....

  • you have the ability to take the call wherever you are.
  • if your phone has voice mail, you can watch for messages on your phone

Thanks for the inputs

Further to what @Dark_Knight said, you may be able to set up an extended absence greeting, and choose not to allow messages to be left.

Are you not taking your phone wiit you? If you plan on forwarding your phone to voice mail do it before you leave your local calling area not after.

Hi ... I'm not going any where I'm just taken 2 weeks off but I don't want people to know I'm still home . I want them to think I'm away ( basically its work related ) My employer will call me every day just to talk and even ask me to come to work or problems at work but if they believe I'm away they wouldn't bother after the first few calls lol

Sounds more like a communication problem rather than a telecommunication problem. Hope your vacation works out for you.

That's what voice mail and email is for... you can respond at your convenience during or after the vacation.

Could you block his number for the duration of your vacation?  Or just ignore incoming calls?
