It won't be any different on other carriers. If Telus can resell it, they're not going to pay you the same price they'll be selling it for. Most of the phone prices from the carriers are inflated to include their marketing cost and profit. The trade-in on my old phone is a lot less than what they're going for on eBay or anywhere else if I were to try buy it now.
