Im currently on someone elses family plan thing, with telus, i was wondering it my phone will work with Telus Voice 35, simple text and talk $35 plan.

Its kinda old maybe 10 years, i checked the IMEI and it checks out so i would think i could get my own plan, was trying to get a new phone at a retailer that also sets up telus plans and was told that my phone wont work with the current plans, so im on the fence here, hoping someone can let me know.

Thanks.

If it's working on the Telus network currently, there shouldn't be any reason it wouldn't continue to if a compatible new SIM card was inserted and used with another plan. If you plan to use the phone for anything other than basic talk and text, upgrade to something newer.

If you plan on keeping your current phone number, there will be some additional steps. https://www.telus.com/en/ab/support/article/transfer-mobile-number-another-person
