It wouldn't hurt to give telus a call (or chat) to make sure everything is okay on their end. I've encountered a similar issue on occasion. It had something to do with filters on their message server.

No, that is why I can't wait for new phones to be introduced and available at Telus (I will try Windows Phone next).

Certain things are under the control of the carriers. Texting is one of them. I had a similar issue when I got a new SIM card for my iPhone 4. A quick call to Telus, they pushed some kind of data to the SIM and everything worked since.

Of course. I was just being facetious. I can't even count how many times I've seen issues like this posted in forums by Android users and more often than not some smug Apple fan will post "That's why I use an iPhone because everything just works".

@Darren: Let us know what iOS is installed in the Phone..like (iOS7 or 😎 I red out in the Android-Central forum, complains about issues in the iOS8. There're some reasons why can't receive SMS from non iPhone-devices.
1) Inadvertently you've turned Off the iMessages (Check out) Have other Apple-devices check if msges are received on it.
2)The iMessages are delivered, based on your Apple-ID-not your Ph#. When initially Set up an Apple-device the ID is Auto..signed into the Msges app. If the device is an iPhone the Ph# becomes linked, with the Apple-ID.. Contact @TELUS support or *611 to assist you better or visit an Apple-Store.
Hey! Xray-xl,.don't mess up with the iPhone lovers or your nicks, would be added to their blacklist. Cu-around "V9"

Right in On! Darren- Just red out you last reply. I'm glad the issue it's been solved. Thanks for Add enough details to your question and quickly answers. That's something others has to imitate, posting with just the subject & never report back if the problem was solved isn't worthy. Remember if you've ideas how to improve the forum, posted in the "IDEAS-Site"

@v9 - FYI - iMessage can be set to use Apple ID, email address or phone number for each contact.
A suggestion: Please add a new reply instead of editing your existing post. When you edit your first one to reply to a following post, no one sees it. 🙂

Ok let's Log In the "Mobility-Services" Opps! Nighthawk again-Let's run,.Hu-haa!. Hey what's up Champ,.What do you got..iPhone6-plus-can be Set to use Apple-ID in Phone n' e-mail for ea. contact. Ok let's accepted as solution, anyway you've an iPhone & as result, you're used to its functionality. I just added some extra info for "Darren" but he fixed the issue through <Telus.com> so none of the answers help him out.
Regarding your point to create a new post to reply a previous question. I do so frequently, but sometimes I include what I called "Latest Update" the msge is intended to be read it by the member, who recently posted an answer, so far it has work out proof of it is that, you've red out in the CPU+Mobility board- those Updates.
In resume let's stop the conflictive attitudes & everybody, would benefit from it. Be more generous, you've given only 3kudos to 3-members. In return you've received 67kudos from a member, who's 1Line down below. Sorry chief that's true. "V9"

I had an interesting experience on this topic recently. Our phones are set up to iMessage but due to reaching my data limit, I had switched off cellular data. I could send SMS to SWMBO, but her replies were sent to me as iMessage, and not received. The solution we used for the short term was to turn off iMessage services on her phone, so SMS would be received and sent.
