Hi there, I've been having reception issues. I'm guessing that a new SIM card might not help, but it's been almost half a decade with the current SIM card, so I thought that I’d just get a new one.
I also at the same time got a new phone.
The SIM new card arrived, but I guess that you can't just put it into the new phone for it to work. Only my old SIM card worked with the new phone.
I'm looking on the online options to change the SIM card yourself.
I see two options:
I want to transfer my number to a new physical SIM or an eSIM QR code voucher
I want to transfer my number to an Android device
I wasn't too sure which one to choose, so I called support. The person didn't understand what I was trying to do. He made it sound like he was only familiar with activating a new number and account, not just simply putting the new SIM card under the existing phone number.
I read more about eSIMs, and thought that that might be better. I'm going to put the new SIM card aside, and wait for the eSIM voucher to arrive.
Once it does, what is the next step? Which of the two options above do I choose to put the eSIM on the new phone? Do I have to call someone again, or go into a store?
To recap, I have an old phone and an old SIM card. I now have a new phone, and I would like to put an eSIM on the new phone while keeping the same phone number.
Best,
Jeff

Hi, nevermind, it was pretty straightforward.
I pressed the “download a new eSIM”, and scanned the card with QR code that was mailed to me.
I pressed the slider “use SIM”
After that, I went back to the website
Chose the option:
"I want to transfer my number to a new physical SIM or an eSIM QR code voucher"
I typed the SIM card number that was on the back of the card.
It asked where to send a verification code, and I chose my e-mail address.
After entering the code in my e-mail, it said that the activation was complete.
I saw my old phone lose reception, and the new phone also didn't have reception, so I thought something went wrong.
After restarting my new phone, I saw reception.
Thanks,
Jeff

Is this the card you received? Also, which phone model do you own?

Hi Dru, that is the card that I assume will come. I only placed the order a couple of days ago.
I have the new Pixel 8, which gives me the eSIM option.
From the two options:
I want to transfer my number to a new physical SIM or an eSIM QR code voucher
I want to transfer my number to an Android device
I assume then I go to the first one after the card arrives.
Best,
Jeff
