Data overage

Wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation and can offer advice.
I have 5gb of data on my monthly plan and NEVER go over it.
Yesterday, while at work, I received a message from telus at 12:54 stating I had used 50% of my data.
At 12:57 I received another text stating I had used 75%.
13:00 I received another stating 90% had been used.
And again at 13:02, 100% usage.
And finally at 13:04, I had used $20 worth of data overages.

First of all, I have never used that much data in a single day let alone in 10 minutes.

Second, I had already been working for 2 hours when I received these messages so I hadn’t even touched my phone in those 2 hours.

I have no idea how this could have happened and if it is actually possible to use all that data in that time.

My phone would have used 2.5 gb of data in 8 minutes.

Also, even if I did accidentally download something, how could that have happened when I didn’t touch my phone in the 2 hours prior- why didn’t this happen right when I left my phone.

You should have a look in the settings of your phone to learn what downloaded. Might have been an operating system update, which could occur without you initiating anything.

Under “Cellular” there should be a listing of data consumption by App, etc.
