Not sure why this is happening... but why am I having issues syncing my e-mail?

Is data working on the device? If not, turn data on or connect to a hotspot. You can also make sure you have "Auto-sync" enabled on your Android phone (Settings/Accounts & Sync/Sync On or Off). Also, make sure you have the proper server settings enabled for your email account. You may have to "Google" the settings for your Email provider or contact them directly. Make sure the "Outgoing Mail server" is:
smtp.telus.net
Port: 25 (or port 587 if port 25 does not work)
Use Authenication: No
Use SSL: No
