iPhone 6 - Let's get It Started

Okay, so now that all other OEMs have announced their flagship phones for the year (with the exception of the Samsung F launching post-iphone), who has been holidng out for the 'new big thing' from Apple? See what I did there? haha

Personally, i'm heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, MBP), so I will likely be getting it.

Who's for it? Who isn't? Why?

I still like Apple because for the most part it just works and the apps seem more polished than Android.  I don't like Apple since they charge a fortune for a phone with a decent amount of memory. Apple also needs a way to allow users to force clear caches on bloated apps that are poorly coded (ie Facebook, Instagram, etc) Not sure if I'll get the iPhone 6 or not. Really depends on what iOS8 offers.

I like Android for the customization you can do on it. Apple really needs to adopt some of that, especially the widgets. I wish Xiaomi had their phones here (rumored 2015). Their Android UI (2) is a lot better than the base version or the version on my Android tablet. Have been considering the Sony Z2 or the HTC One M8 in the mean time. I personally hate Samsung phones.

Not due for an upgrade until 2015, so it looks like my first opportunity will be the iPhone 7, unless I move to VoIP and go data only. Since I use so few voice minutes, an iPad mini and a Jabra headset are beginning to look financially attractive.

I have been 'trying' apple (4s) for a couple of years now and am sorely disappointed with stupid apps type of functionality.

As soon as I can find a decent Windows 8.1 phone; the 4s is in the garbage.

Not even worth trying to sell it and, I keep my devices in mint condition.

Windows Phone also uses apps, but only has a small fraction of them available when compared to Android or iOS. If you are having problems identifying good apps, it won't matter what phone you get.

Yes, I know that.  The difference is that a Windows Phone will have what I need built in - no additional apps needed.

It's not a matter of identifying 'good apps' - it's the very fact that they're NEEDED on an iPhone to get anything done.  And even then, they are still a sad workaround (when you're in a Windows world like I am).

Rim, Windows, Apple or Android...different OS, different manufacturer but your needs remain the same. So the key is to find a phone that can do what you want and the easier it does it, the better your experience will be. I like to try different phones when I have a chance since I don't believe that the perfect hardware was yes to be built. Great experience with my Nokia Lumia 625, basic but reliable and the battery life is great. New phones should be arriving here soon so send us your feedback if you get to try one of the new devices.

Looks like Apple is going to screw Canadians with the pricing of the iPhone family now. Can only guess how much Telus will charge for it as they haven't updated their website yet.

Pulled directly from Apple's online .ca and US stores. Apple's Canadian store only shows unlocked prices, not carrier prices.

Apple's country pricing policy is outrageous. I make it a point to boycott any manufacturer the practices country pricing beyond the currency exchange rate.

Case in point:
Nexus 5 16gb Canadian price: $349 CDN
Nexus 5 16gb US price: $349 US

It's actually cheaper in Canada after the exchange rate. Google does it right and has my business! I've purchased a Nexus 5 and two Nexus 7 devices.

Another example:

HTC One (M8) Canadian price: $700 CDN

HTC One (M8) US price: $650 (Sprint) - $670 (ATT) US

About par after currency exchange.

All valid points, but they will still sell a ton...and people are already figuring out ways to convince their carrier to give them a deal. 

I've used a Mac as my primary computer for well over a decade - i also own an iPad - so I will be purchasing the iPhone 6. I'm too invested in the ecosystem to switch to Android or WP8.

I will buy directly from Apple as well. I don't like buying subsidized phones, as you pay through the a@@ for your rate plan.
