Using ZTE MF275R as a modem with external router

Hi I'm totally new to this type of forum.  Hope someone can help me.

Have a ZTE MF275 smart hub and service is very good compared to my previous ISPs.  However I am thinking of installing an external router (something like a Linksys 3200) and installing a vpn to handle all my traffic (am getting somewhat paranoid about extra security).

Have researched quite a bit and understand that there maybe be some issues unless modifications are made to the smart hub settings.

Found a forum from Rogers but wondered if any Telus customer has tried this and has a solution

Thanks

Good luck. I tried with my 275 but there is no bridge mode so basically i turned off the zte wireless and I used my ASUS router to act as an AP but would get the IP address from the 275. No real way of setting static IP’s (what I need) it works but it’s not perfect. Tried a HUAWEI 612b but same deal. If you can find a a used b890 it has a bridge mode but TELUS discontinued them, unless maybe you’re a business account.

I don't know if there's a way to put the MF271 into Bridge mode or if I have to use port forwarding or something along those lines. Hopefully someone can give me some pointers any help would be greatly apprecieated

Seeing as you have mentioned you are located in the UK and are using Vodafone, you will need to check with Vodafone. Vodafone may have their own specific configuration for that device  or service. Telus has not offered that device, which is 5 years old now.
