Hi, before trying a full hardware reset, can you try to downlaod the text application called handcent from the google playstore? Try it to see if you're having the same issue with your text messages, if that doesn't help, you may need to do a full hardware reset. Try making a back-up first, using the samsung kies program.

I find most software issues can be cured with a complete wipe and reinstall. I know it seems like an extreme measure but it is usually the best solution to the problem. It also gives your phone that new phone feel when you see only the original factory apps and settings.
Make sure that you backup your device before the factory reset

If you have twitter try contacting the fine folks over at @telussupport. They will check to see if it could ve a network issue. I have in the past had slow messages and after a refresh on the account side it was fixed. Is device almost at capacity?
