How do I get the code to unlock it?

I heard the Unlock-code is just the IMEI# & can be found in the back of the battery. The Locking-happens, when the User entered the wrong-PIN-triple times. Report results to forum. Thks <v9>

Telus doesn't answer the phone at this hour.  The SIM code is not the IMEI#.  IMEI number is too long to be the sim code.  I've got a boy who wants a phone to take to school tomorrow and his quit (probably got wet).  I wanted to give him my old one but I get the SIM card code request when the phone is powered up.   Thanks anyways.

I haven't confirmed the IMEI is the actual Unlocking-code: But according with these..[You-Tube videos] they claim it's: Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfcCvh-Bb_o  . If I were you-I'd give a try on to IMEI before contact-Telus. Again IMEI is found on battery or the space, where the battery is installed. The Link shows other ways to find it. Good luck <v9>

If your phone has a locked SIM card and you don't have the PIN, please call Telus and ask for a PUK code.

Please Note:

If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to enter a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable yourSIM card again. Refer to the SIM card documentation or contact your carrier.

Note: Entering an incorrect PUK code too many times will result in the SIM becoming permanently locked. If this occurs, you will need to contact your carrier for a replacement SIM card.

The phone it came out of was an HTC Desire the phone it went into was a Samsung Rugby 2.  His Mother is looking after it now because I couldn't do miracles.  I tried.  It's probably down to the PUK code now.  Don't post anything further the issue is closed.

Thanks for the update. If I read the blog post you linked correctly, it was the phone pass code needing to be bypassed / reset, not the SIM card needing a PUK code.

A quick search of the forums would provide you an answer faster than creating an account. This is a frequent question.

Call Telus to get the code.

There are several ways you can unlock your Samsung as highlighted below. Unlocking by code is by far the safest method. Detailed instructions on how to obtain an unlock code can be found at point 3:

1. You can ask your current carrier to unlock it. The law says they are obliged to do it, but the bad thing is that your phone must NOT be under contract.
2. You can go to repair shop. They will unlock your phone by cable using a special software. The bad thing is that you have to leave your phone there for a few hours.
3. You can use a third party phone unlocking service or SIM unlock software. They will search and provide you with an genuine unlock code from the manufacturer's database. This is the safest method to unlock any phone.

It's awesome that I'm still getting solutions to this problem 2 years later.  While on the phone with a Telus Tech (on hold) I Googled the problem I was having.  Here is a link to the solution that worked:

When the Telus Tech came back on the line I thanked them for their help but I'd solved the problem by searching on Google.
