How to get carrier back on iphone

Has anyone had the carrier disappear on their iphone 6 and how do you get it back?

Hi Lou 73,
In addition to the steps provided on the Apple website I would suggest a complete backup and restore in iTunes. If that doesn't work at that point we may need to send your phone for repair.

Only ever had it happen in a no coverage zone.
