Can't update to KitKat 4.4 on LG Nexus 4

I'm currently running Jellybean 4.3 and can't seem to download Kitkat 4.4 onto my LG Nexus 4. When I go to Settings>About Phone> System Updates>Check Now, nothing happens. The screen says "Your system is upto date. Last checked for update on Oct 17."  I've tried rebooting the phone without any luck. Any suggestions? TIA.

I don't think 4.4 is available in Canada yet and Google hasn't released a timetable for when it'll release it. I know my android device I bought in Canada has an international build versus the US build and the US one always gets released first.

If you really want to push your luck you can get the image from Google directly but you'll have to figure out how to install it without breaking your device.

4.4 is supposedly available.

If anybody here has 4.4 on their Telus LG Nexus 4, please chime in to confirm. Thx.

Google has been updating their devices in batches - yes it has been released for the Nexus 4, but not everyone will get it at the same time to avoid overloading their servers and causing issues. Just be patient and your update will come.

Kitkat is installed here on my Nexus 4.  Works great.

You can force the update by going to Google Services Framework (Settings, Apps, All) and forcing stop and clearing data.  Reboot and check again and you should be good to go.

Only do this if you're determined to get the update ASAP and you're comfortable fidding / troubleshooting if things break.  Otherwise just wait a bit and it'll come naturallly.

It was actually recommended NOT to do that, since it may cause some issues.
Here is a link. You can Google it and find more info on this. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/11/21/android-engineer-explains-why-mashing-check-for-updates-on-nexu...

Hi Phyxius is correct. These updates go by batch. This is done in order for the servers not to overload from all the update requests. Be patient and check for updates on a regular basis.

If that seems like a lot of trouble and the wait is unbearable the Nexus 4 image can be downloaded directly from Google. You'd have to famaliarize yourself with a few commands in ADB as well, and of course have a backup of your phone.

Still no OTA update for 4.4?

One wierd thing I have noticed is that I've gotten 4.3 downloaded OTA (Over The Air) 3 times in the past 2 months.  I would tap the "Install and restart" notification each time and it would indicate that I'm up to date and "Last checked for update on Oct 17" which was over 2 months ago. I don't want 4.3 over and over again! I want 4.4 dammit! haha

Did anybody get 4.4 OTA for their N4? Raise your hand please.

Solved...

Go to Settings > Apps (or Applications) and select show All. Then find Google Services Framework and click the Clear Data button. Then click the Force Stop button. Then go to Settings> About phone> System Updates> Check Now.

It worked for me without any problems. YMMV.
