Does anyone else notice that the Optiktv boxes are always on even when switched off an consuming power? I've taken some heat readings and these things are running at 38-45c all the time. Photo is the PVR but the wireless boxes are similar or hotter.

Any device on "standby" is never fully off and will consume energy. Unless you unplug the device it will always have the "vampire draw". The costs are minimal for a year to keep it "plugged in". That being said i've seen Rokus run 30-50°c in standby.
Ambient air temperature in an enclosure will always keep things on the warm side.

These days, a device such as a PVR when turned 'off' is doing just about everything it does when on, except outputting a signal to the TV. It is maintaining a connection to the internet, updating the guide, awaiting the time to record the next show you want to watch, etc., etc., etc.
