If an IR extender is plugged into the back of a 5050 will it override the IR control on the front of the box or will both work.

I want to control one box from two separate  rooms where both tv's will likely never be on at the same time so one channel will do..!!

Thanks

Most extenders run in conjunction with the built in IR sensor. If the extender bypasses the built in IR sensor it will likely do so with a physical switch on the connector. It's easy enough to test even if you don't have an IR extender. Just plug in a 3.5 stereo headphone jack the remote still works.

I treid an old IR extender plugged into the back of the 5050.It didn't work to no surprise but it did override the front IR.

In that case since you are buying a new IR extender get one with multiple sensors and put one on the box to maintain remote functionality in that room.
