It would not work. Typically when you enable sharing the Actiontec will create a folder on the drive that's connected and allow you to access that folder remotely. A small USB hard drive or flash drive would work far better and have a far larger capacity than a DVD. Just note that Windows 10 devices won't be able to connect as Microsoft has blocked SMB1 connections on it.
