Contact Telus directly, and request a new 'unlisted' number which is not listed in the phone directory. This does not mean telemarketers cannot obtain your new number by other means, such as list exchanges.
We have found if you say "Hello" twice with no response, then hang up, we miss most, and they stop calling after a bit.
If this number is of an individual having difficulty with addressing scammers, you may be better to set up a system where only trusted numbers ring the line.
