What the difference between WEP and WPA? Which is better and more secure?

Hi. It is generally recommended to use WPA, as it is known to be more secure.
The main difference between the 2 is the ability to use specific characters in the password. It can also depend on the devices you are using.

Wifi security is important to avoid abuse by unwanted users.

  • WPA is better than WEP

  • WPA2 is even better
  • consider adding MAC filter to block users that are able to harvest your password
  • consider SSID supression too
  • disable file/print sharing if you do not need it
  • using public wifi or hotel wifi.... consider a VPN to prevent data eavesdropping
