I have a Gigaset 587 Telus Internet receiver box and a D-Link Dir 615 router feeding a Mac OS latest version computer.
Recently, the Telus Gigaset box drops the internet connection every few minutes during use, particularly when accessing web sites with lots of graphics.
I have to reboot by turning the box off and then on.
This was not happening very often before.
Do I need a new internet box or is there something else causing the problem.
Frustrated.

Gigaset are old and obsolete and sucked too. Current gateways http://www3.telus.net/chatsupport/# ActionTec and Zyxel.
No modem only option, unless a mobile Tech has an old stock ALU-7130(Vdsl with Adsl fallback) stashed away.
You could ask if an old stock Speedtouch modem is still available(Adsl).
Your replacement will be a Zyxel Gateway. No bridge mode available.
You can buy your own DSL modem. Since the Gigaset is only Adsl, your new modem can be Adsl. $20-$40. Telus will not support it.
Important setting.

IPoE
NO need for PPPoE.
How to set up a customer owned Zyxel, with Zyxel firmware, on VDSL. About $130 online.
