Why won't call-screening let me enter certain phone numbers? When I try, the system says I'm not allowed to enter this number. The feature is turned on so that isn't the problem.

There are a couple limitations for call screen as outlined on Telus' website > https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/call-screening
Limits of Call Screen
- If a number cannot be added, a voice prompt will let you know
- If your list is full (maximum 12) you must remove a number before you can add another
- If you have Call Forwarding activated, incoming calls from your list will not be forwarded
- To screen a long distance number, include the area code. Do not include the "+1" at the beginning of the number
Are you running into problem adding local, long distance, international or toll free numbers?

This response doesn't address the problem the other party mentioned and the same problem we are having. We are being called early in the morning by a toll free number and when we try to block it the system says the number will not work with this service. It suggests that it may be a private business number. What the hell! Private businesses shouldn't have the right to harass private individuals.
That's because you're looking at an old feature, call screen, and that the original author never replied back to clarify the exact issue they were experiencing. Some older features have limitations regarding toll free numbers.
One other thing to note is that most nuissance callers are faking their caller ID so that even if you were able to block one number, it is painfully easy to circumvent it by simply changing the fake caller ID number.
If the nuissance calls you are getting are automated (no human on the line), what you could look at is Call Control. It's a newer feature that prompts all incoming calls, not on your approved list, to press a certain key before the call will be connected.

I have call control, and it is awesome! Every call is challenged and will not get thru, unless they manually key in the number that they are prompted to enter. Seeing that most telemarkters are "robo called", the call is abandoned, and your phone does not ring. You then go into your Telus account, and either "add them to your accepted list", or add them to your "blocked list". Best thing since sliced bread.
Thanks.
