As of iOS 13.1, there is now a mechanism to transfer an eSIM from an older iPhone to a new one. When I tried this after upgrading my iPhone this year I found that Telus does not yet support this, and I had to get a new physical eSIM card. This increases waste that ends up in a landfill and I think Telus should look into supporting this kind of eSIM transfer.

Yes I agree. I also think it is ridiculous that the eSIM needs to be mailed out. Surely there is some sort of MFA that can happen in order to provide a customer their eSIM virtually. What if I was in a different province/country when something happened to my phone and I needed to access my sim card immediately?

Thanks for the feedback, we will forward this to our device/sim card teams!

Are eSIMs able to be transferred between iOS devices yet? It feels unacceptable that what amounts to a virtual token leads to more waste than an actual physical SIM card does.
