This is in regards to Telus home internet service, and not mobile, if that's not clear.

Some ISP's don't meter bandwidth usage between midnight and 8 am (or similar off peak time) of the customers timezone because that's when the majority of customers are asleep and excess latency affecting real time applications caused by the networks being congested (if any) wouldn't be noticed because the majority of users are asleep, so people could schedule downloads, backups, etc during this time.

If the data limits a way to minimize congestion, and not just a way to subsidize the relatively low cost of Telus Fibre internet. I think this could be a good strategy for people who use a lot of data in "bursts" and don't fit into the idea of having unlimited.

And for the record I have a bit of a "problem" with my data usage 🙂
