I think this is a great idea especially since there is no ir blaster for the 4K boxes. I would like to be able to have my Telus box behind the tv or in my media cabinet without having to have it somewhere for the it to work!
As well with a bluetooth remote you could pair the remote to a specific iptv box. I have two iptv boxes close together and a single IR remote controls both boxes which I don't want - I want to control the boxes separately each with their own remote.
The IR method only has power toggle - that fails when the unit is out of sync - it turns off when you want it on. A Bluetooth remote option supports specific on and off and would make the system much more reliable.
I have similar setup like Phaelen, actually the technician told me that I could buy a tiny IR transmitter attach to the Optik box and the other end is a IR receiver with a thin cable that leads out of the cabinet for remote signal control. I have visited Mad Man Mckay, Best Buy, and London Drug yesterday. Only could find a similar product in London Drug but it is a IR extender, not quite what the technician recommended method. If anyone has setup successfully, please share your product model and brand name. I am very confusing about the matter. Your help is well appreciated.
I support this! The receiver has the ability to do it. This is unacceptable in 2020 from Telus of not offering this option in our modern world! Come on Telus! Welcome in 2020!
