The Internet is changing - telus needs to improve!

FASTER_PLEASE
Friendly Neighbour

The ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM speed we can get as an SMB is 50/15.  That's a paltry 15 mbps upstream.

For a company that wants to participate in the modern Internet with services like offsite backups, video conferencing, VOIP, etc., this just doesn't make the grade!

I implore Telus to take the lead here and build a network that will scale with your customers' needs.  Give us gigabit!  Don't wait for a service like Google Fibre come to town to shake things up.  BE the force that revolutionizes our Internet!  We're BEYOND READY!

Our Managed Internet Service is not even that good. Here in rural Alberta, the best we ever get is 2mbps down, and 0.5 mbps up. Ping times range up to 120ms. Even the non-tech users here are starting to grumble about how slow it all is. It wouldn't be so hard to take if the monthly fee was reasonable, but $800/month? For this? Perhaps the slogan should be "It's slow, and expensive, but 99.9% uptime!"

Whomever at the business that allows that is not technically inclined.  When the business is in an area that does not have any fast speeds, you need to line bond the DSL lines(6 of them as a start) or pay for a dedicated line to the business if no DSL available.  If fast speeds are available, still line bond to get more upload.

Line bonding can be done with a modem that can have more than one phone line into it, or by multiple modems and a load balancing router to handle the traffic.

The more users on that slow service will cause ping spikes as the line is fully saturated.

With slow speeds, the Tech support person at the company needs to throttle/filter all non-business internet. Including load balancing to prevent one user from taking up all the available data.  Time to work and not time to play.

The monthly high fee is designed for instant Telus repair service, when needed. That fee results in business going to a third party for lower cost service, but without instant repairs.
