The issue I raised seems to have been fixed. I have been using cellular data in order to use the Telus Security App. I recently decided to turn my wi-fi back on using my phone and opened the app. Everything seems to be working so either subsequent iOS updates have resolved the connectivity issue or Telus has done an update. In either case the app is now working like it should. Case resolved for me.
