Scam calls (with list)
I made the mistake of answering a scam call from "Telus Fibre Support" and now they call 4-5 times a day, always from a different number. I'm listing the ones I still have. 778-906-5483 778-906-5...

Is it correct we can write to a privacy email address at Telus to come off their marketing telephone call lists?
If we are off that list then we know that any non-prearranged call from Telus is likely to be a scammer.
Personally I do the following because of the barrage of Telus related calls:
- Never answer the phone unless I recognise the number. People shouldn't be scared to answer their own phones.
- Ask the caller to verify themselves by asking them difficult questions ie on 5th June what telephone number did I call. [at this point they usually tell me to "f" off and put the phone down - 🤣].
- Block dodgy looking numbers. This is easy on the iPhone. On my home phone I do this on my actual device, if they call again it rings for a second then just cuts them off.
- Ensure every phone number in the household is registered on the Do Not Call Register. For every Telus scammer that calls make a complaint to the CRTC. Look them up/register the number on the Yellow Pages website. ScamAdviser can be a useful resource as well.
Rather each of us going through this labour intensive task I would be interested in knowing what Telus is doing about this. I was with Vodafone and BT in the UK and never experienced anything quite like this.

4 months agoComplaining to the CRTC about any of the scam calls isn't going to work. They don't deal with those. Their page here spells out the reporting process for scam calls.
As I said below, Telus has provided Call Control as a solution. I have gotten zero scam calls since enabling it.

That feature will not work in my circumstances. I receive calls from seniors and vulnerable people who will get confused with this.
