New $5 security system maintenance fee charge
Would someone be able to explain to me just what I get for this new $5 security system maintenance fee. I can't find any info on the Telus site what this is for. Thanks

The same here. Increasing bill by 5$ as maintenance fee plus last month partial fee for the same reason. An additional 10% under new term. Not even sending heads up on that. This is an extorsion

Hi all. I did get a phone call from someone higher up in the food chain. I am an old ADT customer and I have a DSC security/alarm system. Apparently Telus has implemented this fee for the "legacy" customers to provide maintenance as there are only limited techs that still work on these systems.🙄 DSC only discontinued this system last year. Here's the thing... if I want maintenance or service I have to phone a third party alarm company as Telus security service department will not work on my system if I have a problem.😖 There was further discussion but that's the bottom line as was explained to me.

Same here. My DSC ADT system was installed in 1995. Thanks for the information. I wonder if they will provide a replacement for the backup battery when it wears out. I had my replaced in 2021 (replaced 2014 battery). This system will still work when the internet goes down (internet is down right now due to vandalism in Ottawa), so why would I upgrade? Having been in IT for 30 years, this hard-wired system is more reliable. Just tested it this past March and all is great.
