I am having the same problem! I cancelled a Telus contract 5 months ago and they said I could go on a payment plan with them but they immediately sold it. However, the amount was wrong so I spent months calling Telus who said they had the correct amount and would "make a note to their collections department." Their collections department was General Credit Services who said they couldn't do anything about the amount owing and repeatedly confirmed no changes had been made to the file. Then Telekom law emailed and called me and said they now own the debt, they had the correct amount, and said I could pay them via e-transfer or face legal action. I now have the full payment ready but cannot confirm they are legit. I called Telus who told me the debt is with Metropolitan Credit but when I called them they said they stopped working with Telus in 2019. So I called General Credit Services who I had been dealing with and they said they no longer hold the debt. I called Telus back and after 25 minutes to get through and another 30 minutes of them trying to figure it out they said it's General Credit Services....I am now waiting for a call from the supervisor. It's insane to me that Telus can ruin my credit, without providing the correct information to the credit agency or myself with zero reprocussions, and the only person who suffers is me. Unbelievabnle
