Based on your description, the call you received appears to be a scam. Telus takes customer security very seriously, and we want to assure you of the following:
- We will never ask for personal information such as passwords or credit card details over the phone.
- Telus representatives will always call from an identifiable 1-800 number with clear Caller ID as "Telus."
- We do not call from blocked or unknown numbers, nor do we make calls at odd hours.
If you suspect a call is fraudulent, we recommend you:
- Do not provide any personal information.
- Hang up immediately.

Think of them as resellers. The sell you a legit product Telus offers, add perks to induce you to buy. You give them that cash, all your info to setup the legit product. Then you start to complain you were promised stuff not included in the legit product. Since your personal info was used to add this to your account, how can you win when told we did not offer you that. It will look like you personally subscribed.
DO NOT BUY OVER THE PHONE WHEN THEY CALL YOU.

You win by having the paperwork and copies of anything sent. I had all that when talking to a rep in person. He told me that the offers and options were not part of any promo, and explained how Telus was getting flooded with these types of issues.
The people doing this are not resellers. They are scum and con artists. And they should be prosecuted.
What's worse is the destruction of any trust consumers had with business, and the increased skepticism. Businesses don't help when they insist on using phones and the net to conduct business, and make extensive use of call centers.
