I suspect you previously linked your existing prime account into TelusTV.

I don't have TelusTV so it can't be that. I tried linking my Prime before even activating the TelusTV+ that comes with the Stream+ package.

Yes, you would need to pause your Amazon account. Amazon will pause your direct billing immediately, once Stream+ is activated. Any unused portion of your monthly/annual plan will remain within your Amazon account, and consumed should you remove their Stream+ billing at a later date. If you would like this balance to be refunded instead, you must contact Amazon directly to request (amazon.ca/contact-us).

I figured it out with Amazon. The best way to get this done painlessly is to change the plan from yearly to monthly. They will automatically refund whatever I didn't use under the yearly plan - which for me would be 1 year minus ~2 weeks. Now I can just wait for my current subscription to end in Feb 2025 and I should be good to go to link the account with Stream+.
I will add that this issue with Prime should be noted in your FAQ's about Stream+. There was a statement regarding potential issues with linking an existing Disney+ account and so there should be one as well for Prime.
