Smart Hub home phone?
Friends of mine moved into a rural neighborhood and signed up for Telus Smart Hub wireless Internet. They had also requested their home phone service to be moved over too.
My question is does anyone know if the Smart Hub service supports phone service?
It has 2 RJ11 jacks on the back of the hub, but I don't know if their 5G system is designed to utilize it?
Hi there, great question! The TELUS Smart Hub is designed primarily for wireless internet service, and while some models include RJ11 phone ports, these are not currently enabled for home phone use on our 4G/5G Smart Hub plans.
If your friends requested their home phone to be moved over, it would typically require a separate TELUS Wireless Home Phone device or landline service, depending on what’s available at their new address.

If there’s a copper phone line to the premises, it could potentially support DSL service, depending on the infrastructure in your area. That said, TELUS has been gradually phasing out DSL in favour of faster and more reliable technologies like PureFibre and Smart Hub (4G/5G) services. To confirm what’s available at your specific address, you can check here: https://www.telus.com/en/shop/home-services/home-phone/plans?linkname=Home_Phone&linktype=ge-meganav#

Excellent! Thanks for the confirmation, that clears up some confusion.
A follow up question I have for you if you knew. We have since discovered there is a copper phone line to the premises. So I'm assuming it's a DSL connection (any way to find out for sure?). Does Telus still offer a DSL Internet service or is the only option the 4G/5G Smart Hub ?
From what I've read the speeds are comparable?
