Possible to Halt Billing After 2 Year Contract?

Hey, so I am under a 2 year contract for my wifi. I want to close my account immediately once the 2 year contract is done because Telus is trying to open an AI data centre in my city. I don't want my money going to them anymore but can't afford the contract closure fee. Has anyone does this before or should I just call near the completion of the contract? Thank you!
