HVAC disruption Yates St. Victoria BC

Hello,

there is a Telus building located on Yates street between Quadra and Blanshard. The HVAC on the roof is functioning at a very high-pitched disruptive sound. I live close by and this has been a problem before until it was fixed. Now it has started again. Is it possible to connect with the building manager and provide an update on the status of this?

Thank you

Thanks for flagging this again. We've just alerted the field team that was helping with this last year to get an update. We'll share info as soon as we hear back from the team! Appreciate your patience.

  • Oh I realize you are not Telus Support, I trust Telus Support will respond favorably.

    Best regards

Hey Annex - we had someone investigate in person on the roof near the HVAC unit earlier this afternoon. They reported back with video of the noise and while yes, there definitely is a noise emanating, it's certainly well within noise bylaw levels and not overly disruptive at street level, or to the businesses across the street such as the Anytime Fitness, etc.

What we'd like is some contextual info if possible. Could you take video from where you are so we can gauge the volume level? Does the noise change at night (i.e. become louder, change in frequency to a higher pitch, etc.) Any info we can pass along to our team would be appreciated, thanks!

Thank you very much for looking into this.

I was home on the weekend and there was no noise. I am now away for work but back this evening. I live on the 12th floor of an apartment building directly across the HVAC from the Telus building. I'd like to leave this ticket open another week to make sure it isn't still going during the weekdays. Till soon and thank you again.

  • If its a leased building (as it is very likely to be then the contact details for the building are listed in the front foyer.   The tenant (Telus) is not responsible and this forum will not provide any help.

      Hi Zulu53,

if you can please look into this before responding, Telus helped us resolve it last time because they are the tenant in this building. There is no contact information on the front door or foyer because it is closed to the public. Please feel free to look at my profile from last fall. Thanks in advance for the help.

      Hi there,

thank you for checking in. Yes the sound is persistent 24/7, located at the Telus building at 826 Yates St. Victoria BC. There was a similar issue with the same issue last fall. It seems it was only a temporary fix.
