Your television cannot support HDCP (H1001)
I turned on my Sony TV today and I received the following flashing warning: Your television cannot support HDCP video over your high definition connection (H1001) This has happened a couple of time...
I've seen this on my Sony TV as well as my PlayStation. It's a result of the HDCP handshaking between the selected devices failing.
If it fails intermittently the quick fix is usually to power cycle one of the devices (PVR, TV, game console, etc.) and then the handshaking willl be renegotiated. This works for me.
If it happens frequently you may need to replace one or more of your HDMI cables.
Some devices have the ability to pick which version of HDCP is being used in their settings. There can be compability issues if different devices are using different versions of HDCP. Might be worth checking if your TV has the ability to do that.

The cable currently in use is an Ultra High Speed HDMI of "unknown" heritage. My guess is it may not be up to the task. Navigating the world of Ultra HDMI cables is something else! There are 2 metre cables out there from $10 to $100. Is 2.1 certified a real standard?
Given my current problem I think a good brand name might be worth it. Any cable maker suggestions?

You need at least a HDMI 2.0 cable for 4K viewing. Monoprice, UGreen, Cable Matters or Amazon Basics are a few good options.
