Upsold and misled
Due to a family illness I have to move countries.
Being an expat and sceptical of signing long contracts when I was offered a deal from Telus I asked the rep what would happen if I was moving country whether I’d be charged cancellation fees and forced to pay out out the remainder of my contract. The rep assured me that if I was moving to a province or country that couldn’t offer Telus servicesthat those charges would be waived and importantly that he would make a note on my account regarding this agreement.
So here I am now moving to look after a sick parent and calling Telus to cancel. I bring up my conversation and the fact there should be a note on my account regarding this exact matter. Low and behold no note exists. I am now left to the discretion of whoever I manage to get on the phone.

Was the manager you spoke with able to take care of everything for you?

They asked that I call back in the next billing cycle. I plan on doing so tomorrow.
Hopefully they will honour the agreement from when I signed up to the plan.
